#Gandhi on poverty, conviction, hurt and defeat-
MG is relevant for all times
Best thing about Mahatma #Gandhi is that there is no single
aspect of life of rich or poor, man or woman, father or son, mother or
daughter, mill owner and the work force that he has not written about or
commented upon. Each of the words that he uttered is a ‘ quotable quote’ for us.
Even for a person who wants
to earn well and live well, the #Father of Nation has a message – the most
relevant for some one who wants to come up in life is : “ Poverty is the worst form
of violence”.
So,# Gandhi considered poverty as the worst form of
violence and it is our duty to banish poverty and live good life , not only for
our sake but all those around us.
But then, it is not as if we
may go around making money and achieve this goal by doing anything, for #Gandhi
the ways to our means are equity important: “ The path is the goal”.
In the #stock market, money
market or all those who come and advise us about doing dubious things, we must
remember #Gandhi’s words. Same is true about the people who run the companies
in which we invest. In modern days, it
is called #corporate governance # and the management follows a clean and
transparent model certainly gets rewarded by shareholders, customers and
employees.
There is another important
quote from #Gandhi # which must be
adhered to by any one who is being tempted by some one selling an #insurance
product, gold scheme, equity mutual fund or any other sugar coated stuff. The situation becomes more problematic and
embarrassing when the person selling the same is a friend or a relation. Here is another of Gandhi’s saying which will come
handy. ““A 'no' uttered from the deepest conviction is
better than a 'yes' uttered merely to please, or worse, to avoid trouble.”
In the financial world, it is
important to be alert and agile . There would be some losses , some gains. But
we have to learn from each of our mistakes and bad moves and move on. This is
what the great man, who birth anniversary we are celebrating today, said: “ Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if
you were to live forever”.
There are chaps in the world of
investing who are not optimists but over-confident. These know-all chaps must
also listen to another quote from M.G :
“It is unwise to be too sure of one's own
wisdom. It is healthy to be reminded that the strongest might weaken and the
wisest might err.”
Even if we make mistakes , let us not be bogged down by a sense of
defeat if some one tries to hurt you.
“Nobody can hurt me without
my permission.” …#..Mahatma
Gandhi
